Interventional Radiology
The imaging localization of a tumor or a lesion some times requires a histological identification.
In Magnetic Resonance Chios perform image-guided needle biopsies. Image-guided biopsy is done by taking samples from a lesion with the guidance from an ultrasound or a CT scanner. Depending on the location of the lesion and of adjacent structures, an invasive act may be safer and easier with a specific imaging method.
The invasive procedures using a CT scanner – Ultrasounds, which are conducted in Chios MRI Diagnostic Imaging Center are:
- Lung biopsy (CT)
- Drainage of intraventricular collection (cysts, pseudocysts etc.) (CT)
- Drainage of abscess (CT)
- Drainage of pleural effusion (CT, US)
- Drainage of empyema (CT)
- Liver biopsy (CT, US)
- Renal biopsy (CT, US)
- Mass biopsy (lymph nodes, intra-abdominal masses, implantations, etc.) (CT, US)
- Bone biopsy (CT)
- Breast biopsy (US)
- Placement of wire localization for breast lesions (US)
- Thyroid FNA (US)
- Nephrostomy (CT)
- Placement of pneumothorax catheter (CT)
